Angry 3rd Gear Slipping....GRRR

so some of you know I just put in a new axle housing with new everything including 3:73 gears. I was not able to tune it right away as the PCM had a tune on it and the Diablo would not over write it. So I sent Diablo my PCM and they put it back to stock for me (NO COST GREAT COMPANY!) but before this could be done I drove the car and noticed third was slipping. It would rev up to 5K and slam into 4th. I had just had it flushed a month ago and no issues at all. Sorry if it was not clear I have an AUTO Trans.

I thought it was the rear end messing up the tranny with the new gears. So I got the tuner to work and put in a 93 performance tune with firm shifting. It has made it better but not fixed. If I put it in 3rd manually she SLIPS almost no go all engine! I believe the clutches just in 3 would be bad. So I am thinking either a band or solenoid?

Thoughts guys? I have not taken it to a shop yet and drive it gingerly....

Thanks

G

Its a band or a servo bore worn out. Time for a rebuild or replacement.

How many miles on the tranny and hows your style of driving? This tranny is not a fan of big kickdowns. Meaning your in fifth gear and floor it to where it downshifts to third. That will wear it out quickly. What mods do you have such as a blower etc? Have you confirmed your fluid is full yet?

Yes agreed it is a band or servo! The miles are high almost 100K. I drive it like grandma for the most part but this was already done from what I can tell. I have only had the car a short while. I will get it into the shop and have some tests to see what the next step is.....
