I had a weird smell coming from under the hood a few days ago - smelled like burning rubber/plastic so I crawled under the car to see if I had picked up a bag from the long highway ride I just took. Everything was clear, but I did see this.

The smell is now gone for the moment, but not for certain if it's gone for good. Shes set to go in for an oil change in a little and may get them to look at it but wanted to pros tips here first. its a slight (what i think to be) oil accumulation. It is on the backside of the engine on the passenger side.

Oil level is good, no smoke coming from the tailpipes and no drivability issues. Coolant level is a smidge low, but I attribute that to living in Florida for 3 years with this car and never adding anything.

This is after i cleaned it up a little. it is clean as a whistle now.

most likely its your valve cover gasket leaking. get a socket on the bolts and try and re torque them. you might find they are a little looks from the gasket shrinking. this should stop or at least slow down the leak. if they are tight you just need a new gasket
