Break-in
Picking up my 06 gt thursday. Anyone heard of this break-in. Get into 5th and slow to around 35-40. Floor it until you hit about 70-75. Let it coast back to 35-40 and do this 20 times. Then drive as normal. I was told when you let off and coast it allows the cylinder walls to oil up again and when you floor it it seats the rings.
I think what most dealers and manufactured tell people to do for a break in is crap. Know what I used to do when I broke in a new race engine? Bring i to the dyno shop. Crank it up, accelerat and decelerateto about 3000RPM for about 20 minutes, then start your full dyno pulls.
Then change your oil. If you srvived the first 20 minutes, you had nothing to worry about. I have never had anything to worry about.

I dunno...
I would periodically run my new 2005 GT like a bat outta hell then deal with traffic... occasionally get it up to 120+. And my engine never even made it to 3500 miles!
So now I got to start all over again with my new engine. It seems to be ok with plenty of power but I won't be getting on it for a while unless I hear something proven.

I drove it like I stole it from the moment I picked it up for the first test drive. Here is an interesting link!
