Default Alternator replacement

Hello all,

My alternator finally went out. Only 104k miles on my car, but since we all know that it's a weak link, i'm not too upset about it.

I've looked on AmericanMuscle, and they only offer two alternators, the SR Performance, and just a regular chrome one.

There isn't a big difference between the two. I'm unsure of which one to get. I'm leaning towards the SR Performance, but was wondering if anyone had any experience with either of them.

I'm planning on buying one tomorrow, so any help before then would be great.

Thanks.

Many folks prefer the PA Performance alternators.

The alternator on my '06 started dying at about 130K miles. I replaced with the PA Performance alternator and power wire option. Problem solved.

I went with the Autozone, no problems with it for the past 80K + miles

i always go with an oe style replacement, unless you are running some sort of ghetto thumper 10000w sound system with a flat screen tv that folds out of the trunk the extra amperage is not being used and the extra cost could be put towards something that will make you go faster

Before you go with a PA Performance replacement, do a search on this and other Mustang forums. Unless something has changed recently, their customer service has caused many unhappy customers. When and if I need to do an alternator replacement, it most likely would not be from PA Performance.

Yea, I read several negative posts about PA Alternators, mostly about alternators being damaged in shipping. I decided to take a chance and give 'em a try. Glad I did, My alternator arrived in perfect condition, and after installing, all my problems went bye bye. Maybe I was lucky, or maybe they are packaging them better.

I went with PA and their customer service was great. I had to send one back to to a bad circuit, and they send me a prepaid label via email. Had a new one out to me in 2 days, no trouble at all.

Did mine with a DB Electric 160 amp with upgraded wire a couple of years ago, http://www.dbelectrical.com/p-9858-a...2005-2006.aspx. Reclocked it for the Saleen supercharger and it's worked great ever since.
