Default heater core?

For the past couple weeks my windshield has been getting foggy inside and earlier in the week the passenger side had solid ice and started dripping on the dash when the car warmed up. My did thought it sounded like a heater core going bad. He said to check the carpeting on the passenger side. Sure enough, it is damp in the front, but behind the front seat it is saturated with water. Funny thing is I soaked it up with towels and I can't notice any smell or discolor to the white towel. The heater seems to be working fine and the reservoir is still between the two lines. Are there any other causes or something it may be? Maybe gap in seal around the door or something as I washed it twice this week and I usually spray really good around the doors. Guess I'll know if its wet again in the morning. btw, I bought the car new and only have had it a little over a year and a half. I hear its unusual for heater cores to go out on newer cars, but also that they can go out hit and miss almost any time.

Check the drain plugs under the cabin air filter. Also it could be a bad seal in the windshield. When the heater core goes usually a kind of sweet smell can be present.

If your car is still in warranty, I suggest going to the dealer.

I just went out and checked and there appears to be a little more water behind the seat, although it is frozen. The reservoir is down to the first line too. It couldn't happen at a worse time as I just lost a job and it looks like a cold snap is here all week. I'm still under warranty, but sure its not a quick fix considering they may have to replace the carpeting too. I'll have to call around to dealers in the morning. Problem is I don't think the local dealer has loaner vehicles and I can't afford to get a rental right now and don't think I should drive it very far so not sure what to do yet.

Well turns out the heater core is fine, but the technician said water is leaking from somewhere still. He thinks it could be from a seam anywhere from the windshield to under the car. They don't have a body shop there so I guess I'll have to take it to a repair shop. I would think that would still be under warranty unless its related to the deer accident, but then it should be covered under that occurrence, correct? I can't afford anything out of pocket at the moment as I recently lost my FT time.

Keep on checking the coolant level. While the cold level can vary somewhat, if it drops quite a bit you may have a problem that the tech has not found.

If the water that leaked into your car froze, it's not engine coolant.
Check the drain plugs under the cabin air filter. Also it could be a bad seal in the windshield.

Yeah, it froze so its definitely water. There was even frost along door carpeting yesterday because it was so cold.
