Default fuel injection service an tune up on 2006 mustang gt

Ive got my transmission service and it is running great...now I just got word that I need a fuel injection cleaned an a tune up from the ford delear. Each service is around $300. What is involved in the tune up an I have 82,000 miles by the way.

Tune up = essentially simply replacing the spark plugs today.

As far as fuel injector cleaning, that seems to be the go to sale for everything.

So true. My service advisors recommend fuel injector cleaning from time to time. If you use decent fuel, you will probably never need the dealer to clean the fuel injectors. Since you don't know what fuel was used in the past, you could add some Techron additive to the gas if it would make you feel better. Basically, a fuel injector cleaning by the dealer should be labeled "lightening customer's wallet" on the service order.

The only problem with the spark plugs. Im afraid to take them out becouse they are known from breaking an they are motorcraft plugs.

Default Fuel Injector cleaning?

My fuel injector cleaning? I try always to use Top Tier fuels, and a lg. bottle of Chevron Techron every 5K miles. No worries mate!

Yes, definitely something to be nervous about - but, if the dealership takes their time and follows the procedure, there should be no issues. What you can have them do to eliminate future worries is buy the one-piece Brisk plugs and have them install those instead of the Motorcraft.

I agree with putting one piece plugs back in, but I would suggest going with either Champion or MSD one piece plugs. The Brisk plugs are pretty much just racing plugs and have a relatively short life span. You'll get a lot longer life out of either the Champions or MSD plugs. I have had two sets of Champions and have put over 100K miles on them and have had very good results. They are a double platinum plug and have a good long life span. You'll pay a lot for the Brisk and get a shorter life.
