Default How tough to swap header gasket on '05 4.6l?

Helping a buddy fix a badly messed up header gasket. The headers are Kooks long tubes, and the driver's side is the bad one. Also, best gasket to replace with? Thanks in advance. 'Carl

Haven't done it but everyone I've spoken to said it sucks.

Use OEM.

FRPP or Percy's "Dead Soft" are both pretty good.

If you can replace the gasket with the header still on the car, more power to you- I wasn't able to get the headers out enough to remove the old gaskets on mine (and they were stuck to the flange or to the head in some places, complicating the whole process), it ended up being easier to just pull the headers back out. Really it's not that bad, everyone acts like it's the worst job in the world.

Eh. I've done it twice. Yeah it takes awhile but it's not that big of a deal.

An endless supply of pizza, beer, and your favorite music certainly helps!
