Welcome to the underappreciated, never expected, spankin' them when they ain't looking 3.7L V6 Mustang crew! You'll be amazed what these can do with a little work and some brainpower.

If you've got the time you can read through my build posts in my signature. I wouldn't call it a super low budget build, but there's nothing in it that's too over the top exotic. I literally thought about trading it in over the weekend, but as I was taking it for a drive and winding it out in 3rd I decided I just couldn't do it! The sound is soooooo good and when it's up in the rev range it really is like no other Mustang. And we've got 400 lbs less weight on those front tires, so the balance is better too.

Throttle body (TB) will be a waste on a fairly stock car. Unless you do some work to the heads that requires a higher volume of air than what the stock TB can handle or you get some sort of forced induction (FI) like a procharger etc. Not to mention the aftermarket TBs usually cause significantly more problems than any potential power they may add.

A Tune, gears, Long Tube (LT) headers, and different mufflers (in that order) are your best options for more power and better sound without getting forced induction. You'll want to get the mufflers AFTER you get the LT's installed because it will affect how the mufflers sound and mufflers are strictly for sound preference. They don't add any power.

If you plan on getting FI the order will be
FI/Tuner, TB, LT's, gears, mufflers. The FI, Tuner, TB and LT's would best be purchased and installed all at once because a Custom tune from Dyno time would be required to get everything dialed in correctly. Gears and mufflers don't affect the engine tune so you can add them later.

Yup, with less weight at the nose and closer to a 50:50 weight distribution, the V6 does have that advantage over the GT so better to exploit it with handling/suspension upgrades.
