John - cave in man!! CAVE IN!!! Now, I'm talking road racing, not SOLO2....Once you get to run free on one, you will be road course junkie!
With the wider tires, man you'll love it! I ran with stock Nero's and wished I had more rubber. I upgraded my pads to Hawk EPS and installed Steeda braided brake lines - that helped with the pedal feel, but more brakes are still needed. But more brakes at this point for me means bigger wheels...then all of a sudden it's like a $3-4k upgrade ....yikes....but well worth it if you can swing it.
I ran against cars like you mention and just ate them up... I distinctly remember running against a while WRX Sti with a few mods (chip, suspension), and while I was faster all around the track, I was REALLY faster on the straight...once we hit around 80 it's almost like he lifted off the gas while I just burned by....
Oh man, I gotta get back out there!!!!
actually, the tire wheel combo handles beautifully (albeit with a bit more work on the wheel) although I agree the SCCA course type driving style isn't really my target. Couple of my buds have been trying to get me involved (they drive NEON SRT something or other, Subura WRX, Mitsu Lancer, 93 Z28) and I almost caved in last May at Summit Point's Friday at the Track.
Maybe this spring.

Awesome... I'll have to check for the retaining clips on my studs also. I just put on some aftermarket rims and tires and am experiencing the same slight vibration.
Thanks for the suggestion. I'll let you know how it goes!

God I like those rims... I was looking for someone that had a picture of them installed! Thanks.
Since they are 18x9s --- I'm thinking of going with the 255/45 R18 from the G-Force line... Anyone have any feedback there?

Are those the 9" wide rim??
If they are the 9" -- I would think the tire size you selected would be too wide, and would suggest a 245/40-18 (Great tire size for a 18x9 Rim) or a 255/45 -18
IMO the 275 is too wide of a tire for the 9' rim and will cause the symptoms you are describing. You are right though, it seems alot of "Newer type Mustang" owners like the 275 for some reason, that said, alot do complain of handling with that tire size too. I personally like the twisties, so I go with a 245/40 on my 9" wide rim.
Good luck, and let us know what you find.

275/40's here with zero problems. The retaining rings is what 99.9% of all the problems are traced back to. I have the Nitto's on mine, they are pretty decent. Will be switching to 315's in the rear (maybe, we will see how they fit) next spring.

Thanks Stoenr!
I took off the retaining clips the vibration and random pulling I was feeling is gone!
The pulling to left or right would happen randomly at any speeds... the vibration was most noticable once I hit about 60mph.
Last night I had the car out for awhile (after removing the clips) and with several runs between 20 and 110 mph didn't feel the pulling at all.. and no vibration.
Amazing the headache those little buggers caused!
Thanks for the awesome tip

What is the difference in width between the 255 and the 275? (pardon my ignorance here)
I like the wide look, I just don't want the tires hanging out from under the wheel wells.
