Dear Discofan..
HAHA.. I am 50... (OMG!).
and YES... take a set of Thrush Glass Packs... knock out the baffle with a rod... then dump white gas into it and ignite it to melt the glass.. THEN put it on the car!

PW, you remind me alot of my dad... we have a 46 gmc dually flatbed w/ a F.I. engine and OD trans in it and he was looking at exhausts for it (old one rusted out) and hes like yeah im gettting soem thrush mufflers! i looked at him like WTF is that?!?! guess me being 21 and him being 56 leads to a generation gap or something, i dont know. as for REAL muffler talk... i havent even heard an 05 with anything but stock so i kinda want to hear some different brands with and without headers and xpipe before i decide, im still trying to decide on jba equal shorty or long tubes... im just happy the aftermarket got on there game so quickly with the s197. choices... choices... choises...

Well..
I just may have to try thrush just for the hell of it!
Surprising enough.. THRUSH is still around... although dynomax now owns them.

They still have the traditional "Missile" IE: the Glasspack...

I found this looking around this forum: http://www.pypesexhaust.com/newproducts.html#04
The pricing isn't bad but not sure about how they sound.
PW, your going to have to take a little trip to Belt-Line Auto Parts in Alton IL to get them. Yes I also remember the Thrush cherry bombs. Those were the best things that hit the market back then.
I guess a few of us will be or already has their AARP cards already. That's alright, just means that I'll be getting things cheaper on senior days.

Yes I agree. I think that the stock mufflers on the new GT are wonderful.
I had a 2003 GT and they were not nearly as nice or loud as the 2006 GT Mufflers.
I test drove an 06 and I fell in love with the rumble and sound of the exhaust.
I plan to order a mustang very soon in the next weeks.
