Question Seeking Advice

2005 Ford Mustang
178k Miles
Slipping in second gear and touchy reverse

Would it be worth purchasing if the price was right? Don't want to throw money at a brick wall.

Unfortunately throwing money at a brick wall is exactly what you'd be doing. At that age and mileage, frequent repairs are guaranteed as well as ongoing maintenance.

You knew the answer before asking. However if you are mechanically inclined then sure if the price is right. It would have to be damn cheap
