I just acquired an 08 GT that has a Shaker 500 stereo. I cannot get a station to come up on the radio. If I push seek or scan the screen defaults to FM 101.1
Anyone have any ideas, fixes or suggestions?

 

My shaker 500 started shuffling non existent cd's several years ago. It would start shuffling any time day or night. It would start shuffling when I opened the door. It killed my battery. I installed a radio/clock kill switch and use it for ipod on the aux input. Fortunately the shuffling stops when it's in aux. I can use the radio, but I hate constantly changing stations searching for good songs. My crummy suggestion is use the aux input for your songs and forget the radio and cd.

 

Mark me down for ghost shuffling and battery draining.
I ended up putting an aftermarket radio in. Yeah, it isn't the factory look, but honestly...even at $130 including plug-and-play harness, I'm much happier now that I'm not stuck with a dead battery if I don't start the car for a week. Oh and it has bluetooth (welcome to this decade!). It sounds better, too, IMO.

 

I pulled mines for an aftermarket unit. Touch screen, Sirius XM, AM/FM, Bluetooth, AUX, back up camera, DVD, Apps, Ipod, Pandora, USB, which I use for a portable hard drive. Easy install, and much better sound. JVC unit was less than $250. Based on the age of the radio, I would consider upgrading. Check your local Best Buy. They currently have a promo for free installation of all stereos over 200. Good luck.
