My 2008 V6 with 178,380 miles is starting to burn about 1 quart on every oil change, the manual states to use 5W30, I live in Florida and due to the very warm weather I recently changed to 5W20. Will the change of oil harm my engine?

 

Run what the manual states. The thicker the better in warm weather anyway.

 

ok thank you, was not sure if I should keep using 5W20, as it is supposed to be a little more thicker.

 

5W20 is thinner than 5W30. The older the engine gets the more larger tolerances are created from wear and tear and thicker oil would be even better.

5W20 is thinner than 5W30. You need to run 5W40.
