P2111 Code
I own a 2012 Ford Mustang v6. Very confused. This code doesn’t appear on the OBD2 scanner unless the check engine light is on. When I have a fault, it’s usually the wrench light that turns on, but this doesn’t kick off a code.
Being afraid, I initially turned off the car, restarted it and the car ran fine. Whenever the wrench came on, I would hear the engine rumbling when came to a stop, and I would shut the car off. Upon turning the car back on, the car would run normally. Whenever I accelerated, the wrench would pop on and then the check engine light would go off. After leaving the car off for a few hours, I return to no check engine light and the repair shop can’t figure out the problem minus the check engine light going off the next day. Very frustrating.
Would a good repair shop be able to diagnose an issue with the throttle body issue minus the P2111 code? Should I just change the throttle body component?

Since it is a throttle body control code where the plate is stuck, have you tried to clean the throttle body? Why not try the simple fix before throwing parts at the car first. The sticky throttle body plate will put your car into limp mode, giving you the wrench light.
They took her apart today and the throttle body wasn’t dirty. It was just cleaned about 2 months ago. This issue has been on and off since late May. They checked the module and wiring and found no issues. The result is what it is: 170K miles on an original throttle body and it’s given all it can give. She gave me 13+ years so I can’t complain. Time for a new one.
Thanks!
