ORIGINAL: Rider

Stckman, I am right with you on the top body line "hump" over the rear wheels. That is such a classic muscle car look. I dig it on my 69 Cougar, as well as all the rods of that era
I think they were afraid. its that positive slope body line they dont wanna bring back... back in the old days a powerful car looked like a chariot. big an powerful in the front and small and concise in the back... old roadsters and even the original 60's stang had that line that traveled upwards as i went towards the front.. funny how over the years it becam the opposite... that a car big in the back and low in the front is now the image of power... strange how that works... i think the upward line is whats on that tbird and maybe they dont wanna OVER retro us with the hump... but like i said... the charger seems to handle it well.

i wonder if some mod maker would develop some hump side fenders that lead into the tiny stang fins.

I like looking good AND SOUNDING GOOD !!
Looks do it more for me, but there is a limit. I wouldn't be happy driving a car that didn't jump when I stepped on it. Gotta have some performance or you can just ride the bus. I have driven the crappiest looking P.O.S. 70's Monte Carlo's and Nova's and had a great time!!!

ss-
you have a pic of your aluminum rear louvers? and who's did you get?

I'm still shopping...the aluminum ones ive seen so far seemed to show daylight under the top louver(like it dont 'close' tight to the window like my 69 set). thanks for any info

well i think it depends what you already have
i have a v6, if i wanted to go really fast, i would have got a gt
no use to push a v6 more than what it is (however, 210 hp from an engine that size is somewhat pathetic imo)

its nice that the car already come with a bit of both already, no matter which, v6 or gt

SS-
thank you for the pics! you got better pics than MRT's site! I had MRT email me some pics a few weeks ago, didnt show the mounting, but the thing I wasnt sure about was it appeared there was a gap between upper louver and the window- in your pics now I see thats where the hinge is located. your thru the glass pic they should add to their site as a lot of folks think they cause blindspot- but pic shows they are not much of obstruction at all...I hardly noticed when I put them on my 69, except the black interior without a/c was MUCH cooler on a sunny day. They help save the inside while looking good on the outside

still contemplating beating out a set this winter that seal down more like my 69's, but have no idea if I'll be able to pull it off...havent tried TIG yet, so what the heck...thanks again for sharing your pics!

I did my performance mods first but to be honest, I've sepent more time, money and effort in making her look good.

When you get into the performance mods, there's no end to it. There's always some one that has a faster car and a new mod to make yours faster. At one point you have to decide enough is enough or you'll just go broke.

The louvers themselves are nice; they keep the back seats cooler.

They are actually made by http://www.visuslouvers.com/

Some trouble you should know about.... The clips at the top suck. very cheezy. Broke & had to be replaced.

The clips at the bottom suck... very cheezy cheap plastic.... Haven't broken yet but soon to come.

Did you catch on the pic that the top hinges were riveted on crooked???

I don't mean to discourage anyone from buying them, but you should know first.

It all is held in place by 3M glue pads.. THEY STICK !!! The hardest part was replacing the broken clips.

Oh I almost forgot, they have some lameass weatherstripping on the sides. It doesn't stick so well.

Thats a hard question. I try to make an even balance between both although lately I have been looking more a appearance mods just because my car came with a few performance goodies already on it when I got it and for right now the appearance mods are cheaper than the performance stuff I want to do (heads and cam)

looks like appearance is beating out performance... i woulda totally thought the other way.. but i guess right away appearance is more worth the money.
