I've been trying to solve this problem on another thread. It looks like the only option is to swap for the GT gauge cluster. And Kevin @ clevparts@aol.com is checking to see if the V8 tach will be off. Not an easy swap, has to be done by the dealer who downloads your mileage to the new gauge cluster. Looks like $300 for cluster and a few hours shop time. I'll wait to hear what Kevin finds out.
