I spoke to a sales rep at Kenne Bell last Friday and he said that they were waiting on parts from one of their suppliers for the kits. He also said it should be out by the end of this week or the next but definitely before x-mas. I would at least wait till it comes out before making a descision on what to get.

Procharger, if you're not going to wait for KB or whipple.

The Saleens are not making all that impressive of numbers and you have to spend another $500+ easily on parts after you buy their kit.
Not that impressive? A 100+ rwhp difference at 3-4 psi isn't impressive? How about 585 rwhp at 8-9 psi? That is what the S281E motor made on the dyno. One thing everyone needs to realize is that Saleen's screw blower is a very unique design. It is inverted, allowing for long, straight runners into the intake. It makes this twin screw blower extremely efficient for a positive displacment blower. If KB and Whipple keep their same design, they will not be as efficient as the Saleen product. Also, remember that Saleen uses the same internals KB, and a casing made by whipple.

Do you know how they solved the fuel issue? Did they use a colder plug? If so how did they gap their plugs? What kind of driveshaft are they using to support that power? What about the transmission and clutch?

Went with Vortech HO kit on my 05. I would have went with the Whipple, but price was an issue..availability too. Vortech's kit came complete from fuel pump, injectors, MAF module, and Predator tune. Dyno was 424rwhp/390torq and air fuel sat just under 12.0 at full boost (9psi @6000rpm). Only downside is the factory rev limit is there, and Vortech's Predator removed the option to adjust it. HP was still climbs past 6k, so there's more in it.

Honestly, for what you are spending to get it up and running, no, I don't think the numbers are all that impressive. By the time you tie up $6k in the thing ( and that is if you do the install yourself ) to get that 100hp, the $ per hp ratio just doesn't really ring my bell. I don't care if they did it with 1psi. Absolutely, I agree with you. The lower the psi, the easier it is on the motor. Not arguing that at all. And it is no secret that you are a Saleen fan and own their cars. I am not saying Saleen is a bad product. It is by far the nicest looking setup out there and their design is pretty slick. I can guarentee that the S281E car making 585 has a hell of a lot more done to it than just the blower kit they sell. With the right amount of $$ thrown at it, probably any blower kit out there will make 600hp. But for right out of the box performance the Saleens are not topping the charts...so to speak.

Given my choice of induction products, I would go turbos. But that is just me.

Hey guys,
Thanks so much for all your imput, just to set something straight....
I was telling this guy and some others who work and used to work at Saleen, that I was going to order their supercharger for my 06 .... immediately they were like you dont want our supercharger, its way overpriced, and the competitors out there have alot more complete and polished systems ...... thats my only discrepency. Thanks for all the info though, I'm lookin forward to the whipple now

Custom tune your predator and you can easily bump up your rev limiter to get more boost. The Vortech doesn't start making squat for boost until around 5000 rpm. Bump your rev limiter and add a kenne bell boosta pump to your set up and set it for around 30% and you will see significant hp gains.

NOW FOR THE QUESTION -

I would go with the Saleen and would have if it was available last year. I love the KB setup and it is awesome. The guy who engineered it for them (Brent) was at California Speedway last saturday and I was talking to him at length. By the way, his 2V 'XS Boost' mustang was running 10.40's with the prototype. But the point is he went into great detail explaining why you won't see the KB for quite awhile. Amoung other things, when the charger was getting ready for final testing, they (KB) descided to change a couple things and when you change anything in the engineering, the entire process has to start over. He said KB has done this SEVERAL times already and a lot of the contractors are dropping out and refusing to work with them because of this. He said not to hold your breath to see one in the next six months at the very least.
