Painted side mirrors

RE: Painted side mirrors
I'll be talking to the guys at the paint supply shop(s) but as far as 'adhesion promotor' can you be specific with a particular product. For example I've used Dupont VariPrime which is an etching primer; however I believe the etching aspect is more designed for metal. I have to believe with all the plastic & urethane automotive color body parts that there are primers specific to this application. That's what I will be finding out but if you can site any actual products, that would be helpful. ...Jim

Would love to hear what you find out Fairlane, that way I am armed with some knowledge before I go to another dealer or painter to see what they might charge and how they plan to go about doing it. Plus you are usually more likely to not get a line of bs if you come in telling them what and how you want it done instead of just hoping you find someone experienced and relying exclusively on them.

RE: Painted side mirrors
I had mine painted and they came out great. They did need 2 coats of paint to get rid of the grainy finish. Three coats would be even smoother. My local body shop painted the mirrors, the CDC spoiler, the lower grille and filled in the antenna hole by weldnig a piece of sheet metal in place, grinding the welds down smooth and painting it. They only charged $175 for the entire job. Heres a picture
