Will 2005 GT wheels fit 2005 V6 convertible?

The width doesn't matter. It is the hieght of the tire that will change his speedo. He will need to retune his computer for the correct tire or his speedo will show slightly slower than he is actually traveling if he goes with a taller tire. But I think your right, I don't think the GT tire is any taller than the V6 tire.

There will be minimal change in speed....maybe 1-2 mph!!! Going from a 16" to 17" does not require a tune.
Here is a link to a very helpful tool when playing with tire/rim/offset stuff. http://gs.tolan-hoechst.com/tirecalc.htm
Also going from 16" to 17" will make everything a little stiffer, not really a noticeable difference though.......the bigger in diameter you go the stiffer and bumpier the ride will get....due to tire height...!

I was totally with you on this dude, until you said that going from 16" to 17" will make the ride stiffer. that's not true at all unless you are saying that the larger rims tend to have a lower profile tire on them, so the shorter stiffer sidewall makes the ride feel stiffer, but it has nothing to do with the height of the tires.
You can easily and without any complication whatsoever, simply bolt ANY '05 or '06 Ford Mustang Factory rims on to ANY '05 or '06 mustang without any problems at all. They will fit all cars and the difference in your speedometer would be so small that you would never notice.

EDIT: the number 45 (Aspect ratio) in i.e.: a 255/45/17 tire stands for tire sidewall height, its the percentage of the width of the tire
