ricardo monteblan would be proud of that fantasy. only way it's 3tenths faster is stock for stock. you should check out the NHRA record book for stock eliminator records. you will find that cars with autos are always within 1 tenth and in many classes autos are faster!! that belief of manuals being light years faster is old school technology.

i'm not saying that auto's in the 05-06's are faster but i don't think that aproperly setup auto is going to be shamed as bad as you think. most drivers that have manuals can't control wheel spin and are going to look kind of silly when an auto takes them by 4-5 cars out of the hole. i ran an 03 cobra at the track and no doubt he was much faster but guess who got to the finish first? 1/8 mile me by about 2 tenths. he made up the difference on top end and won by about 3 tenths. on the street i would have easily beat him and he would have looked stupid in front of his buddies. that is all driver. he should have smoked me but thanks to an auto trans and him being a suck driver it was close. you may be the exception to the norm. i see you are running 12.20's!! nice runs...i take it that's not on street tires.

spyder7724:
You may be right. The s/c is sitting in the garage while I look for the rest of the parts i need. a stall converter would actually allow the car to feel all the extra HP at the rear wheels. After reading the powerdyne link (below) I'm not real impressed with the roots blower, but I’m sure the inter cooler will help offset the heat issue.

Speedeamon:
s/c: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Supercharger or http://www.powerdyne.com/tech.htm#g (VERY INFORMITIVE SITE)
Stall converter: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Torque_converter or http://www.fordmuscle.com/archives/2000/09/converter/

HOWEVER; I still maintain true oneness between man and machine can best be attained by a manual transmission.

I will always choose a stick. I think it's just more fun to drive, and you have total control of the shifting. Also it's less expensive and if you want to you can get better gas mileage than you can with an auto.
