V6 or V8?
Shortly after getting our V6 I took it to a Mustang shop to have a dash kit put on. This guy drives up and I said nice GT! He said "uh...its a V6! These guys here modded it to look alot like a 05 GT!" He sure had me fooled! So its possible to do that with a V6 if thats what you really want is the looks of a GT
I'm not going to be drag racing or street racing any time soon so I am leaning more towards the v6.
I checked with my insurance and the v8 would only be $9 more a month than a v6 would be.
What would I have to do to put GT fog lights on a v6?

for 21k you could get a mach and stand out and have the same power as the new gt but costs less, plus they only made like 17k of them or something. A 6er just seems like a whole nother car compared to a v8, i drove an 04 v6 w/ a predator tune and a cai and it seemed so slow compared to my car.
yeah but the 04 6ers feel so much weaker than the 05+ ones
if you do occasionally want to take the ricer beside you, a 6er will do the job...heck i raced a 98 m3 and beat it...so the car is not a
slow poke" like some of the older ones
never the less, gt's are still definitly faster
it really depends on what you want it for

Casco Tech has all the parts you will need except possibly the fog light switch. You can also get them already painted your color so you will save on the paint too. They also have the sway bars if you're interested.
$9 more per month for a GT is a great rate, unless of course they are soaking you on the V6 premium. [sm=smiley2.gif] But seriously, I've had guys tell me their GT premiums were double what it would have cost to insure a V6. Who's your insurance company?

We just switched insurance cimpanies about 3 months ago because they had better rates but I'm not sure who we switched to so I will have to find out.
If you don't KNOW that you want the V8, then get the V6. Like any performance car, the V8 is a musclecar that gives you tremendous acceleration and handling at the expense of comfort, gas mileage, insurance rates, maintenance costs (i.e.expensive tires).
Shoestring budgets and musclecars are at odds with each other.
Keep in mind though that at about $26K out the door, the Mustang GT is basically in a "bang for the buck" class by itself. Fast rice costs more than that. I haven't priced a V6 mustang ($21K-$22K nicely optioned?), but there are a lot of cars in that performance and price range.

If you're concerned about insurance, its relatively not that expensive.
For insurance on my GT, my 6 month premium is $406.80. Its not too bad because I thought I'd be paying a lot more.
I'm assuming that it would be much less for the V6.
For either car you choose, don't have any regrets.
