Mods or No Mods?
The reason I ask this is say many years down the road and we still have our 05 v6 Convertible Mustang and don't do any mods to it except the dash panel kit was added, otherwise leave it pretty much stock like it came from the dealer. Will it be worth more as a collectable with NO mods or lesser mods done to it? My husband is happy with the way the car is and isn't planning to do anything more to it after putting in the dash kit.
In a way its strange he doesn't want to do more mods on it because he's added tons of stuff to our motorcycle and hasn't quit yet. When you sell a bike like ours its actually better to take off the mods and sell them seprately to get your money back out of them otherwise you do lose that money selling the bike fully loaded.
I feel this car will become a collectable for the fact its the first year they changed the model so drasticully...

well if you look at any classic car shows (Barrett-Jackson per say) you will notice almost all of the old cars are modded... and the engines are like pure chrome all over. Some are stock, but dont sell as high. Either way its still the redesigned 05... no matter what you do to it.
If you do decide to make changes, keep your stock parts.
And also remember we drive the v6... most collectables are the high end models like shelby's, and quick GT's...

i dont think a v6 vert is gonna be a collectable. Maybe in like 40 years.

I agree. A small engine mass produced car will rarely become collectible. It's the low production models that hold value.

when i first got the car and was completely obsessed because it was my first car and obviously very nice... i decided that i wasnt goin to change anything on it... when i realized that it wasnt going ot be worth anything... i decided to go ahead and drop it and start saving for intake/tuner/exhaust
Well, if you put a V-6 Vert in storage for like 40 years and then pull it out and restore it you might make a buck or 2.
But really, there are so many Mustangs being made, both V-6 and GT, they will never be the rare collectors items like the '67 Fastbacks or such. Plus remember, there's no engine/ transmission upgrades. So they'll all be the same. If you want a collectible car it usually has to be rare when new. Try getting the GT 500 and keep IT stock. For the V-6- I say if you think adding a mod will make it more valuable to you today, go for it! Just remember that if you add $3000 in mods that when you sell it don't expect to be able to ask $3000 over blue book! The only thing that helps is LOW MILEAGE!

Okay thanks guys for your input...I guess I could talk him into some more mods since it isn't going to make much difference way down the road with this particular Mustang. I see too that the add ons work on the same principle the motorcycle's do when it comes to reselling.
