i haven't tried that yet. but i have had it out multiple times so i don't think it was in the same position each time. what the hell? it's worth a try! i put a hard rubber spacer inbetween the companion flange and the shaft and that seemed to help some but still getting the whine at 40-60mph on light load. i think i'll take it apart again and increase the backlash more. it doesn't do it when it's cold. but after 1 mile then it's there.maybe it just needs more backlash to compensate for whatever is wrong in there.
I'm confused(didnt take much, huh?) but is the thread about driveshaft imbalance or noisy gears?

you know there is a painted mark on the rear end flange for you to line up with the driveshaft (driveshaft has a painted mark...these are the balance marks)....just in case you didnt know....

not sure. but there is a problem in the drivetrain that causes vibration and noise. it maybe the driveshaft although i had no noise with factory gears and the aluminum shaft. the noise i have is a vibration type whining. i can tell it's something that is vibrating at an extremely high frequency. ford had a ton of problem with that in this car so it will just take a while til somebody figures out what is really causing all that vibration/noise.

Spyder - talked to Justin and Derrick today and 'go figure' they said exactly the same as you. They said the problems lie in the whole trans set-up for the car and switched to the T-81 trans and quickly had an end to all problems.

whats a T81? never heard of that. i though justin was going to put a tremec tko in it. it's funny though that auto's and sticks have the same issue. i have no choice but to figure out how to get rid of it since changing trans in my auto is not an option(i love having 4 gears in the 1/4 mile and that super low 1st gear allows me to run 3.73's and still launch good.
