Hubby is considering putting a hood scoop on his 05 stang. It will not be functional just for looks. It says it bolts on with 2 bolts and 3m tape. Has anyone done this if so how did it turn out. He hates the idea of drilling holes in the hood. The mustang is torch red and he wants to paint the scoop black along with his window louvers and spoiler. I think stick with red on all anyone have a opinion?

Mine is that the black would look cool, and bad, but the red would make it more sleek, and more posh. I think there are a couple designs for the scoops out there... only one I have heard of uses a bolt and tape technique, maybe look at the ones that don't bolt on... see if he/you like them as well... and as always, it is to each his/her own... what looks and feels good for you may not for others... do what pleases you

Found a earlier thread about this issue. Got some good information . He is going with the Xenon hood to avoid drilling holes and black for effect.

 

Can you trust just the tape, I was thinking about getting this also but I don't want it to fly off. Anyone that has one with just the tape has it held okay, and what speed have you gone with it.

 

I talked to my dealer who would paint it if I put one on... and he looked at me like I was nuts when I asked the same thing... He is of the opinion that if put on correctly, it 'ain't comin off unless you take it off...

 

I have the xenon.
Had it painted there, and it arrived ready to install.
As far as speed, I have only gone up to 120 mph, can't vouch for a higher speed than that.
