I had to stop by work today to pick up something (@ 10am). The weather today will be in the 60's, so I left the window down and used the remote to lock the car. I was in the building for two minutes. When I came out the front door, I heard a car alarm starting. When I rounded the corner to the parking lot, an unamed ethnic creton was casually walking away from my car, with its horn and lights going off. A loud "HEY" from me send him scurrying away into the apartments behind our building, with only a beer bottle in his hands (again, we're talking 10am). I wasn't about the chase him in there. No damage, and nothing stolen (I don't keep anything inside my car anyway - something convertible owners learn to do).

OK - I tried to figure out what this creton did to set off the alarm. He could have reached inside the open window to unlock the car and open the door. I tried that myself and got mixed results, trying to set off the alarm. I tried leaning in the open window to look around, and when I stepped back the alarm went off every time. I had no idea the alarm would do that. Very cool feature!!! Is the alarm a standard feature, or is it something the dealer activates?

Very cool hearing this story. I actually sat in the car very still and armed it, them moved a little to find out at what point it goes off. Then jacked up the back end to find out when the anti-tow sensor kicked in. I am very glad to hear a real-world experience of the system working. I have yet to get any reaction to trying to open doors.
