Shaker Problems?
Are there still problems with the Shaker systems? I know some people were calling them Skipper 500/1000. I'm not a big fan of audio mods, so I'd prefer to go stock unless there are still big problems.
Thanks!
Thanks!
I know from the looks of this forum, the Shaker system sucks. However I have had no problems at all with it in my new V6, or the others that Ive rented or test driven, or in my friends GT. My guess is that only a small percentage of people have Shaker probs, but since only those people post, it 'appears' that everyone is having problems with the stereo. I also think that many problems have to do with home made / burned cd's and mp3 disks (this is a whole other discussion).
I could just be lucky, but I doubt it, my Shaker 500 sounds great, and the last thing I would want to do would be to tear it out and replace it after spending a lot of $$ on it.

I have the 1000 in my 06 gt. I sounds great but when I first turn it on there is some sort of static sound and the transition between songs isn't soom (very important for most nine inch nails and tool albums). I just do not have the time go all the way down town Las Vegas during the week to get it looked at. Other that the sound quality is good.
I've had my 05 GT for about 5 months now and have only had one incident with my Shaker 500. When I got into the car and cranked it up the mp3 cd i had playing would not start up. I turned the power off on the whole system and then turned it back on and everything was fine. So now when i go to shut off the car, i turn the cd player off first. I haven't had any problems since. But yea, it only happened with a burned mp3 disc, so maybe it has to do with that. But it still hasn't given me as much problems skip wise as the cd player in my 98 did. I'm perfectly satisfied with it.
I have the Shaker 500 and I've noticed skips in brand new CDs that have gone from the case to the player that I know have never had the chance to be damaged. This generally happens after about 2 or 3 weeks in the player with out coming out.
My Shaker 500 just quit on the drive home tonight. Twice. For about 10 seconds each time. Then picked up where it left off. Never knew this could be an issue. I'm a newbie here. Will have to go check the status of my CD's. It's never been a problem before in my other cars/trucks before.
i have had a shaker 500 for about 3 months now, it started skipping about a week ago. before that it would give me the bad disk error for a lot of perfectly fine disks that every other play could read. anyways, i have an appointment at car toys on friday to put in a new eclipse head unit...should be better
edit: just to clarify things, it is only the head unit that is a problem, the speakers and amps are good and sound a lot better with a better unit in there
