Shaker Problems?

RE: Shaker Problems?
My shaker 1000 isn't all that great, If you turn it up 3/4 the way (which you need to when the top is down) everything gets all distorted and gross. Personally Im glad I didnt have to pay for that waste of an upgrade but it's jsut another cheap attempt for a manufacturer to compete in the competitive world of car audio. Frankly it blows. I ripped everything out last weekend and replaced it all, the 6 disc sent me over the edge, It just rejected one to many cd's for no reason.

ORIGINAL: Gloves

Also, when playing CDs it pauses about .5 seconds when it changes tracks.
Most CDs that's no big deal but some cds where they last song is still ringing
while the new song is starting up...

RE: Shaker Problems?
I got my GT on March 4th.
Since then I have noticed two incidents with my Shaker 500.
1) it ejected a regular cd and said bad disc twice. I put the discs back in and they both played fine
2) while downshifting, the cd player skipped right out of the song I was listening to to the next track.
It scared the hell out of me because it sounded nothing like the when a disc is scratched.
I haven't had any problems since...and I hope it stays that way.

RE: Shaker Problems?
My Shaker1000 is starting to have more and more instances of those bad habits they have.
I have 6700 miles now and get to enjoy:
1. Long pauses between songs (that play short pauses in the CD player at home)
2. Skipping a brand new CD
3. Stopping a song in mid stream and starting over either with that same track or some other track it picks at random
4. Ejecting a burned CD and saying bad disc, but then playing it later when it felt like it.
(think the Shaker 1000 is kind of like the Hal2000, that computer that had a mind of its own!)
Overall I love the sound of this system, however, I don't think the extra money is worth it if you have to babysit the stupid head unit more and more every time you are enjoying a CD. I am thinking of pulling out the head unit and replacing with aftermarket sometime, if I can keep all 10 speakers and the amps where there are.
I personally do not have any buzz or rattles coming from any of my speakers nor from thrunk (even with the shaker on). I guess I lucked out, considering that some guys on this forum have found it necessary to reinforce their trunk to get better sound, and the fact that I was rearended a couple of months ago. I also do not have any distortion at any volume level.

RE: Shaker Problems?
I think the Shaker 500 problems are mostly solved now, there is a second generation unit that seems to have fixed the problems. There was a TSB on the Shaker 500. I have an early model 05 Gt, November 2004. Had some issues with the Shaker 500 almost from the first day. I just kind of lived with it until it died a few weeks ago. Took it to my dealer and they replaced it with the newer version without any issues. Not a hint of a problem since.
The main problems were skipping and not reading CD's on the earlier units. I also agree that the Shaker 500 is not the do all and end all of automotive audio. But then I didn't buy my GT for the audio system!
