Default Steering Wheel

I have a base 2011 5.0 and want to get a leather steering wheel wrap. I was quoted 400 dollars from my local interior shop!! So I figued I'd just buy a leather steering wheel directly from the dealer which costs the same. My question is: there are extra buttons on the premium steering wheel, will this cause wiring nightmares during the swap? Has anyone done a steering wheel swap before?

I'm pretty sure not.
People that have installed Bullit steering wheels on the 05/09 didn't run into problems.
I don't see anything different with the new style.
The new wheel comes bare and the wiring goes through anyways.
So you'll be able to re-use your switches.
While at the dealer, ask to see both kinds and compare...

Question for those that have installed a 10/11 GT500 steering wheel.
I'm going to guess that the GT500 SW has all of the buttons on it since
they are different from the buttons on the base GT SW. My question is
does the GT500 SW come with the wires to connect the Cruise Control
buttons?
I know that the radio buttons on the GT500 SW can not be used on a base
GT.

Thanks

I installed the GT500 wheel on my base 2010 GT. The buttons for the cruise control are there and work fine. Unfortunately no one has been able to get the radio buttons to work with the base radio. If you swap in a Shaker 500, they do in fact work so the wiring is there.

The swap is simple and takes about 20 minutes.
