Default 2011 Mustang GT Hushpower - Resonator Delete

Here's my 2011 Mustang GT with Flowmaster Hushpower Axlebacks and a resonator delete by a local muffler shop. Sorry for all of the background noise...it was a very windy day. I'll try to get a better video on an HD camcorder. There's no difference in sound volume at idle and cruising. You really hear the difference when revving and accelerating. It sounds a lot more throaty during acceleration.

There have been posts that removing the resonators makes the exhaust obnoxious, but if you notice, they have already removed their catalytic converters. Just removing the resonators increases the sound volume when revving and accelerating, but not nearly as much as removing the catalytic converters, and there is no issue with emissions/warranty. I have not noticed any increase in drone either.

Great choice. That's what I would go with if mine were a 5.0

I just got a 5.0 - putting Flowmaster American Thunder muffs on it. Where are the resonators and how do you delete them? Thanks.

They are between the h-pipe and rear axle...they are part of the pipe so I had them cut out and straight pipes welded in place by a muffler shop. I probably wouldn't do it again. I wish I would have just gone straight with a borla catback vs trying to purchase an exhaust part by part. This is cheaper in the short run, but buying the whole catback would have been much better.

Other than the annoyance of now purchasing your exhaust piece by piece, are you pleased with the resonator delete + the Flowmasters? Sounds great on the video. Did you have the FMs on for a while before you did the resonator delete? If so, how dramatic is the change going from FMs with resonators vs FMs with no resonators? Thanks!

Taking off the resonators made the FMs more throaty. However, at WOT towards the higher rpms, it sounds a little farty. That's the only thing I dislike about taking off the resonators. The hushpowers sound more like a deep glasspack to me vs the actual flowmaster mufflers. If you have the AT axlebacks, they may sound a little better than the HP axlebacks with no resonators.
