I am trying to "dress up" the exterior of my 2010 mustang gt and want to paint the injection molded plastic part of the side view mirrors.

Has anyone ever done this before?

If so how is it holding up and what is the best method to use so the paint will adhere properly? (I was told at a dealership that it will not adhere but I was pretty sure people have successfully painted it before).

it sticks. you need to have know how. I would start by sanding off some of the texture. Clean it real well. Use adhesion promoter, you can get some primer filler as well to fill in the imperfections. Spray color, clear and done.

A bit more complicated than that lol but you get the idea.

make sure u clean it well with soap and water, then a plastic cleaner, before you sand it or your just going to have problems later.
