Default window tinting?

im wanting to get the windows tinted on a 2012 ive recently bought.

ive read some articles where people are putting moleskin on the inner side windows to keep it from scrathing the tint. is this worse on mustangs than other cars? ive had tint on two or three vehicles in the past and i dont recall the tint getting vertical scratch marks on it.

another question about the side windows...on cars before, the tint install would put some tape over the window switches and tell me not to roll them up or down for a few days while the tint dried.

on the 2012, the window rolls up and down a little automatically when you open and shut the door. is there anyway to get around this such as pulling a fuse or being able to somehow turn off the feature?

and finally, the back glass has the heating elements running across it. is it possible to tint across that and will turning on the rear defrost ruin the tint?

thanks

I look forward to some of the answers to the above questions as I am tinting next week. Especially how to disable the window from going down when door is open.

Window tinters have been installing S197 tint since 2005 .. they know all the issues with windows lowering, etc ...

Moleskin was only necessary on 05/06 ... 07+ have the felt already to prevent scratching.

The tint guy dried my side windows with a heat gun and actually said there would be no problem putting them up and down immediately if I wanted to.

+1 moleskin was only a need for 05 and 06 models.

No sir, it was also an issue with the first lot of 2007s. Had that issue with mine. Since then, they've corrected the issue putting in softer felt. So rpark, you shouldn't need the moleskin.

You also shouldn't have a problem with letting the windows take that 1/4 inch automatic role down. That's a feature for the +05s, not just the 2012s. I've had my windows tinted twice (second time put in the moleskin) and I've never noticed an issue with this. No scratches come from it.

Actually, I have a 2010 V6 and my side tints are scratched up a bit. The softer felt strip may have been for 07-09.

My 2012 has been tinted for 5 months now and I haven't noticed any scratches. Like MadStang40 mentioned the 1/4" it moves when opening/closing the door won't hurt anything. It is normal to not use the windows for 2-3 days. And the rear defroster won't mess up the tint at all either.

This may be a dumb question, if the window goes down the 1/4" when you open the door, is there away to get back up so you can tint the full window?

You can close the latch in the door to make it think it is closed, just have to remember to undo it before you try to close the door. I don't remember having to do this with mine with the door panel off. It's been awhile though.
