I've found a really nice LED in-dash mount switch for my fog lights, but it will require drilling a 5/8"-3/4" hole, and most of the best locations I can find seem to be too thick & padded to mount a switch.

Anyone who has seen the backside in the 2010+ dash know of a spot that is thin enough to drill a hole and mount a switch?

 

For what it's worth, I mounted a switch on a little piece of iron on my pick up. Used the existing dash screws to hold the metal and then put the switch through that. Sat just below the dash. No drilling into the car that way.

 

Thanks for the idea, but I'm afraid I'd hit it with my knee in the Mustang. Plus I'd like to make it look "OEM". I found an in-dash switch with a blue LED that matches the dash lights pretty good.

I had Halo headlights on my 06' before I traded it in. I mounted the switch for them by drilling a hole in the panel that the headlight switch is on. Popped it out and drilled the hole centered and to the right of the actual headlight switch, then mounted the switch. I figured I could replace that switch more easily if I ever had to return to stock, and wanted to avoid anything permanent. Another good place is on the removable plastic panel/piece in the center column that allows you to adjust the e-brake tension. Pop the plate off and drill a hole there. That plate is also easily replaceable if you want to return to stock.

I've thought about the plastic light switch panel, I'm not sure if there's enough free space for the switch I have though.... since it requires a 5/8" hole. I think my switch panel is smaller than the '06's were. I may just get a different switch. Thanks for the input.
