2005-2009 GT vs. 2011 V6
#21
2005 Mustang GT Deluxe - 3487 lb Curb Weight
2007 Mustang GT Deluxe - 3483 lb Curb Weight
2010 Mustang V6 - 3400 lb Curb Weight
2010 Mustang GT (Base) - 3533 lb Curb Weight
2011 Mustang V6 - Estimated 3400 lb Curb Weight (Not Official!)
2011 Mustang GT (Base) - 3603 lb Curb Weight
Weights are official figures supplied by Ford to the AAMA (American Automobile Manufacturers Association).
I seriously doubt your optioned 2008 GT Premium came in at 3350 lb curb weight (Fully Wet including 16.0 gal of Fuel). My 2007 GT Deluxe (MSO Dry Shipping Weight 3352 lb) weighed 3420 lb with 5 gallons of fuel at both an NHRA National Event (Scale checked and certified multiple times) and on a certified CAT Scale. The only car lighter would be a Spoiler Delete Car.

Come on guys my 01 bullitt with 270hp would do 0-60 in 5.4 and 13.8 quarters all day long. What makes you think a car with 35 more hp and a bit less torque won't do the same thing all day long as well. The new V6 will be an equal runner with the 2010 gt and at worst 1 or 2 tenths behind.

power under the curve baby... the v6 will likely have a big power curve to over come, where as the v8s have a fairly flat torque/horsepower curve.. Same reason that a 325hp v6 nissan 350z was still slower than the 300hp v8 mustang even though on paper it had better power to weight. (AKA ricer math)

Wow, the amount of people that underestimate the importance of torque in acceleration on this board is staggering. Tq curves are what make the strongest cars what they are. It's the reason the 05+ GTs have been spanking the 350Zs for years, even though the HP numbers are close. It's the reason 05+ GTs still beat the crap out of the V6 Camaro (that is similar in HP and TQ #s to the '11 stang V6). Its the same reason C6 Z06s can still smash supercharged base C6s when the HP is close. Tq curve.
The '11+ V6s will be strong performers to be sure; once people start putting $$ into them they will be down right impressive. Out of the box however, the V8 will still be king...

Mcbride between me and Gene k we just gave you a list of sites that say it weighs more, and you came back with one? is that even the premium model as well? with the shaker 500
Edit- that was worded a little harsh, rather, are there any more websites that back up your claim?

i dunno why people are bashing the v6 cars. There's a guy named tim king that has an 8 sec. tt firebird with a 3.8 that he use to run at the track all day
