I was not upset with my MPG's on my '10 was getting .....27 on hwy, once I saw the '11 V6 and drove, the GT was sort of Boring LOL, I mean the Pep this thing has, plus not having to stop at pump but every 7 to 9 days, I drive 50 miles a day for work, along with the new options on the 6, the fact interior same, more room under hood, light, no power steering pump, the exterior look, I was sold...

I test drove a 2011 V6 and it was nice, but for me it didn't have quite enough get up and go. To be honest I also don't put an absurd amount of miles on my car on a daily basis so that also was part of my reason for going GT.

And the GT just had that growl that couldn't be compared to a V6. I probably would've realistically been happy with either car though. But I just happen to love my GT so I couldn't imagine giving her up

With mixed driving I get about 20 miles per gallon, and I definitely drive hard too! Highway-only driving (trips) with cruise control set at 72 mph I average 30 mpg. All hand calculated (mine is the base model with manual trans)

It's always nice to get good gas mileage, but lets face it; we bought these cars for the look and appeal and not for economy. Be glad you can get such good mileage from a performance engine.

I bought my Stang for the wood I get when I drive it; NOT for economy.

Com'on, don't you get wood when you drive pass all the econ boxes that barely get 30 MPG, on a good day, down hill... knowing you have 2 or 3 times the horsepower and the same MPG.

There something about knowing you have best MPG-to-HP ratio of any car that no one else on the road can say. Except maybe a Corvette... maybe.

I mean, with a GT, there is always a Shelby or... um... Corvette again... with more horsepower. You're never at top of the heap. But in the MPG-to-HP game, you're the king. And for 2012, GM isn't doing a damn thing to one-up that.

Even the new Civic Sport Hybrid is only 40 MPG and um... hehe.. 150 hp.

I test drove a '11 convertible(manual) and at 70mph the rpm's were 1700, do you think the car would lose much/any mpg with the 3.31 gears(if I stay out of the gas)? I don't think I would use 6th gear till I hit 70/75mph and with the 3.31 gears it would let me use all 6 gears more often.

Thanks

As I said I have 3.31 w/ 6 spd @ 72 I'm 2000 when running 65 in 5th it goes to 2500, but over all city/hwy drive work get better than 25 mpg, on trip steady driving over 30.....if you do lot long distance driving 2.73 would good, 3.31 happy medium for me, I had 3.73 in my '10 GT and was more than what I wanted for highway driving

I have a 2.73 with 6 speed. I drive mixed about 27 miles round trip to work and average 28 mpg by onboard computer. I took it on a road trip 140 miles two lane hwy at 60 mph and it said 32.7 mpg, that was driving conservative. I use exxon 100 % gas ethonal free. Thats what this local chain claims. I might get a tune later w/93 octane.

Here I was enjoying my good mileage, minding my own business ........
Today was not a good day for my baby………Dump truck Dave on the freeway, I’m on the far left lane, he apparently was 3 lanes over on right, dark so never saw , just heard the damage like gun shots hittin the frontend, hood, fender, roof of the car, and windshield. I say apparent cause was dark and could not see until traffic scattered, DAMN!!!, well rolling by body shop per USAA’s instructions and Safelite coming to house with new Pony windshield in morning, glad I have a $100 deductible…today sucked.
