sound system

It could be an optional thing, IDK. My v6 PP has almost every option possible from '06. Either way the Shaker sucks audio wise, but I'd rather spend my money on go and exterior appearance mods. At least for now.

No, don´t mistake their naming scheme for RMS wattage. Not even close. And I won´t pretend I know manufacturer´s selling schemes, but I don´t think this is an automatic either, you have to pay for the extended audio packages I believe, no matter which model you get.
Haven´t had too many after-market setups as a kid, eh?
The shaker 1000 will get to a decent volume level and have a bit of kick, but it´s still crap-tacular IMO.
Quality of sound, and/or level of is almost always pretty ¨meh¨, no matter which car you buy with an OEM setup.

I've wasted plenty of money on aftermarket systems over the years. I was making the comparison between the base level radio & the 1000. (really no comparison) just my .02

I had the 500 in the 06 GT I had previously, the only real difference was the 2 subs in the back to me, gives it at least a bit behind it anyhow. Still not even close to worth it IMO. First thing that went for both car´s, bypass the OEM amps for 2 of my own.
Haven´t gotten to replacing the speakers themselves yet, but it has not been that big a priority as the speakers themselves are not super-bad, actually if the subs get ripped out and replaced it would probably not be that much more of a gain for me personally going beyond that. I´m not a super-audiophile like a few I know, so not getting quite as much from the components would not bother me so much.

Although the sound systems are called "500" and "1000," the numbers are not related to their power. The "500" doesn't come close to putting out 500 watts. I agree that SYNC is a very nice feature. I use it with my IPOD - which is connected through the USB connector in the center console. Voice commands sure beat handling a bunch of CDs while driving. The sound is just "OK." Replacing the stock speakers with higher quality is probably a good idea if you are looking for really good sound.

That's why on this stang instead of dropping the alpine speakers I had in my '10 GT with no Amp I did a memphis speaker system on all 6, I had the shop remove the whole shaker head and dash and wire up the alpine amp as well to get the power cause the '10 GT as I said on lt had a speaker upgrade and really did not sound too much better do to no power to push the sound..........and you never want to go back and see how they are doing, will make you sick to see that dash apart lol........ ford says there are 8, but they are counting the 2 tweeters in front door speakers as speakers too.

The speakers aren't terrible for OEM... the weak link would be the 'amps' in the 500/1000 ... if you wanted some decent lows the 1000 would be the best choice... though, personally I'd stick with aftermarket, and try to keep some of my 'Sync' functionality by way of Metra or Scosche.

The majority of the stereo I had in my Expedition was Memphis Audio, subs, mids tweeters and amps. I loved them. This time around I'm going Focal. I compared the new version of the Memphis to the Focals I'm getting, and the Focals absolutely blow the doors off of Memphis speakers which I consider to be really nice speakers. The OEM speakers are average at best. They're so unimpressive it's not even funny. I can't wait to get rid of them.

The premium has a shaker 500 standard, it can be upgraded with the navigation package (touch screen) or upgraded to the shaker 1000 without navigation.
