Default First Oil change? Recomendations?

Well it's been 2 months and I have 2000 miles on my V6

Back in the old days, there was always a rule to get the first oil change very early, just to wash out any debris/dirt from the manufacturing process.

But then Ford doesn't call for an oil change until 7,500 to 10,000 miles.

Any thoughts?

I'd say go ahead and change it now. And going forward, keep using synthetic and follow the recommended change interval. I usually change my oil much sooner than 7,500 miles, especially if I drive it hard. Just makes me feel comfortable but probably not necessary.

That was WAY back before the day's of the CNC machining processes we have in the modern era.

The key to oil changes is just DO IT regularly and of course always swap out the filters.

The type oil and filter is all marketing and really just splitting hairs when it comes to their differences IMHO. As long as you're using the current API Standard of "SN" your fine.

True story --> I had a college roomate that leased a car and NEVER changed and/or added any oil to his car in 50,000 miles! He said it's NOT his car and he doesn't care and will not put ANY money into it! Think about that the next time you go out and buy someone else's used car !

Do not do it now. The manual with my first Mustang, a 2012 V6, said to perform the oil change at 5,000 miles, and not to do it early. Seating of the rings? Anyway, hang on another 3k.

x2.

Under 10k miles.... run the **** out of it! Do NOT baby the engine or else the rings will NOT seat in properly. SERIOUSLY. Google it.

If you do baby it, you will not get 100% performance and/or efficiency out of it.
