Motive Gears - no shims = whine
I had JJ at Woodbine Motorsports install my 4.10 Motive gears yesterday. Unfortunately, when he was taking measurements to determine what shims were necessary he found that he would actually need to remove material to get the numbers within spec instead of adding shims. Also, the pattern is good. So there wasn't much he could do.
But the whine is pretty bad. I trust JJ as far as the install goes, but am wondering if anyone else has run into this problem or if I'm just going to a) live with it, or b) buy a set of FRPP 4.10's and have him install those instead. Thankfully, if I go the FRPP route, JJ said that he would work with me on the labor cost to reinstall.
It just seems to me that there should be some way to get these things within spec.
Anyone have any thoughts?
