Default Reverse to Drive Shift Time

I was just curious, and it could be normal. But does anyone know why it takes so long for reverse to shift to drive? I feel like it takes almost 1-2 seconds? I'm just basing the speed difference off my 08 pontiac g6. Maybe I just need to get used to this? Thanks.

I also had this question, but mine is an automatic. When I'm switching to reverse to drive I hear a loud noise from under the car, it only has 6000kms on it now and it made that noise from around 500kms on.

A "loud" noise can be interpreted differently, generally speaking that is normal though. However mine is automatic also, It just feels that is takes a lot longer to shift back and forth than my old car did.
