poor boys swap
An Im NOT exagerating--as Im sure a few of you know having a wife and kids sure isnt cheap so this swap undoubtedly HAS to be low buck
I just picked up an '89 LX convertible 4 cyl automatic and Im gonna convert it to a 351W with a T-5
I got all the stuff for the tranny swap, a complete wiring harness and an A9L computer
I just picked up a 351W out of a '96 F-150--motor is complete with mainfold, throttlebody, mass air blah blah. The motor has 60,000 miles
Im gonna freshen it up with a new gasket set, rings,bearings timing chain,oil pump and water pump
A few questions for those who may know:
1) What PSI are factory fuel injectors for this engine?
2) How many MM is the factory throttle body and mass airflow sensor?
3) How many CC are factory heads for the engine?
I believe I read somewhere that stock compression for this motor is 8.8 to 1 and the factory pistons are hyperutectic
I just picked up a set of LOW mileage GT40P heads that have (I believe) 58.2 CC combustion chambers and want to put them on the 351.
I also have a 302 HOroller that Im gonna pull the cam out of and put in the 351 roller--the stock cam in the 351 is unbelieveablysmall--even smaller than a factory 302 HO cam. To bolster lift Im gonna get a set of 1.7 rockers to go from the factory .442 lift and get it up to .470
With the heads (better flow and increased compression) slightly upgraded cam with 1.7 roller rocker arms Im hoping to P/U 40 HP--is this realistic?
Any info and/or cost efficient suggestions would truly be welcome!
