5.8 idle problem
okay well this is my first post alright i have a 88 mustang hatch with a351W its got a trickflow track heat top end kit and a custom grind cam i it has a 70mm TB and a mass tuned for 24 lb injectors i had been driving it for a while the engine has about 1500 miles on it and i recently ran into an idling problem the engine wont want to start and then start and die after that you have to press the gas pedal in for it to start as if the tps wasnt sending out the right voltage or something so after it starts you need to keep the pedal moving or else it will turn off so when it finally wants to stay on it will idle good for a while but run a little rich finally when it warms up just idling it will severly oscilate it will jump up to like 2k and go right down to like 100 rpm and do it again it will go way down to like 0 and jump right back up to 2k til if finally turns off then i will keep on happening sometimes at high rpms on take off it will pop and when i come to a stop it will start to hover and then the rpm variation continues idk if its a vacume leak the tps my o2 sensors my mass or my computer that is still completly stock
yeai have the 24 lb injectors and the mass sensor is supposed to be tuned for them already the computer that the car has in it now it i belive the equivalent to the A9L ecm what would be a good reliable chip or tune that i could get that would fit in the budget of a 19 yr old that is moving out and going to college i just need to get the car running decent so i can move to sandiego and turn it into my daily driver so you think it can be the injector tuning on it because it started doing it out of nowhere
today i found out that my fuel psi reg is not working well it leaked but i put teflon on it and stopped but the fuel psi guage goes right down when you turn the car off so im thinking there might be a fuel problem somewhere and thats the sputtering and poping and it might flood the pistons and thats why its hard to start but idk i need to fix it soon the regulator is an aeromotive i belive, its adjustable i have it set to 45 i belive so when i turn the car off it goes straight down to zero i know this is a problem but i dontknow if its THE problem im thinking if i dont get any suggestions im going to have to take it somewhere well thanks anyways
lol well i guess nobody is going to know...but its figured out it was the fuel regulator it was leaking into the vacume lines and would make it idle like crap lol the fuel leak was so bad that it got into my booster and totally messed it up so now i have to get a new booster i had to get the reg which was like 50 bucks at teh local store the one i had was an aeromotive does anybody know where i can get a rebuild kit for it??? the problem now is that it will all of a sudeden idle high the booser is off and plugged i might need a bigger throttle retun spring i resetthe idle on it set the tps voltage and everything so imma continue tomm
My mustang did the same it was the grandutille (if thats how to spell it) mass air meter facing up and down. I took the cold inducation off and just put the 90 from the throttle body and the mass air meter then the air filter. and then it worked fine
