brakes
Now that i've got the motor working good, I'm almost scared to hammer it. I put power disk brakes on the car, but they simply dont do the trick when hauling down from 100+.
any recommendations?
I know baer, wilwood and ssbc are all highly visible in the market.
also, do i stay with the power or go with manual?
I wonder if my power is lacking vaccum? I get one or 2 good "bites" then the pedal goes "hard" and i'm downshifting to slow down.
Love the new 351 area. What else can I do to help promote the site?

i've got a 'kit'. not sure who made it but it was a bolt on deal. got it from a local dealer/rod shop as a 'deal' for helping out one of the owners.
it looks like the 'stock' kit you see with texas mustang. weird thing is that when first installed it had a very soft pedal feel, but would put your teeth in the dash. very hard to modulate. later found out that i should have had the shop install the supplied extra brake pedal. it has a much higher mount point and when that was installed the pedal feel was like i expected--firm. but i still only get a couple of hard bites then dead pedal.
my mechanic replaced the brake lines with braded steel, new pads and even got the company to send a new power booster.
question---when i'm braking obvioulsy i'm off the gas-after the 2 hard bites could it be that with the 408 cubes that i'm losing vaccum when the rpms are down? i feel like that is what it is, but why doesnt everyone then have this problem? seems like an easy fix, but my mechanic, who is very good, just doesnt have anyother answers.
i'm really not looking to go road racing--scca style. however i'd rather put 1500 into great brakes than take a nose dive into the rear of some car in an emergency stop......
I'm stabbing in the dark----please help!!!!
