Default performance question?

Any advise would be appreciated. I have been having alittle problem with pinging. I have played with the timing and added octane boost. I am running 10.5 to 10.8 compression with a comp 280h cam. I have talked to several people running this compression on pump gas without pinging, but I still get it alittle on WOT. I am thinking that if I upgrade to all MSD it might help. Also, would the plug gap be an issue or bigger wires. I am at .35 with autolite 45's and standard wires. Thanks for the help.

Carbed or F/I?

The reason I ask is I have ran 10:5:1 plus cars carbed, and they can lean out cylinders if you are not careful. I have also had the distributor nut losen and had the distributor move on me also. Another thing to realize is that the "ping" yoou hear may not be detonation, high compression cars make a distinct noise if you are running long tube especially.

How about some more information? Timing etc..
