I have a 91 4cyl and want to put in a 351, but I want to keep the stock hood. Has anyone done this? if so what intake have you used?

 

It can be done but takes lots of planning and customizing.

It can be done, I did it with my stock hood although it has a factory 1 inch lift. Im not sure about a 91.

 

I have always ran at leasta 4" cowl. Never even attempted it with a stock hood[&o]

But I do know it can be done.

 

i read a story in mmff about a guy with a 427 under the stock hood he had to drop the motor mounts way down and also get a tube k member

 

My dad and i just fit one under his hood. 85 lx 5.0
Stock replacement mounts(NOT convertable mounts)
edelbrock performer intake
carb. and the very tiny holley are cleaner.

The only reason we tried this is until he saved up for a new hood
Not saying these are the parts you need or anything, it may not work with anyone else. But we got the hood closed and nooo rubbing.

 

fox's have more clearance than the sn95 fyi

 

When i first built my car i didn't have a cowl hood yet, but i was able to close the stock hood, i've got a UPR tubular front end kit ,solid motor mounts and the induction consists of a vr jr intake with a holley carb, but i can't run an air cleaner and the hood is only about an inch from the top of the carb . Oh yeah i do have a sniper nitrous plate sandwiched in there too.
