i got an oil pump pickup for my canton 7 qt oil pan and it has a attachment ear so that it can bolt externally to a main cap bolt and i dont have a main cap with the same attachment feature wondering if i need to attach it to anything besides the oil pump?

 

Are you saying it has a tab to bolt to a main cap stud but all your main caps are bolts without a stud on top? If so replace the one where the tab goes with one with a stud, cheap and easy, I would not run it without the pickup formly held down in two places.

motor was just built so i remove of of the regular caps and just drop this one in a torque it to what???? i have to worry about the main cap moving or messing the bearing up?
