351 and Transmission for $100 bucks, what would YOU do?
Hey guys, I'm going to be getting what I believe to be a 351 and a heavy duty auto trans out of a 70's dump truck for $100 bucks. It's carbed, and I'm not sure what kind of transmission it is. Anyways, what would you guys do with it? I'm thinking of finding a clean roller fox and fitting it into there, or welding up a tube frame with a 9 inch rear. Think go cart with 450 tq. Any ideas? I currently only have one Mustang which I don't want to f with right now, a Ranger that I can't swap this into and keep it street legal, (it's a 98) and a Camaro that's staying all Chevy.
Also, any info/links to sites that will help me figure out what I have would be appreciated. Thanks.

I don't know what it is, I haven't even seen it yet. All I know is that it came out of a 1970ish dump truck and he's asking 100 bucks for it. What the difference between the two motors you mentioned? I'd love if it were a Winsor, but if it's a Cleveland I wouldn't mind. What's a 351m?

351m stands for a 351 modified it was part of the 351/400m line of engines ive been told to stay away from those blocks. one of my auto teachers two years ago told me they have bad oiling problems because i wanted to take a block from one of the trucks we were going to crush.

Ok, I'm pretty sure it's a Winsor. It has six valve cover bolts, according to this website that's all it could be. Anything smaller and it wouldn't be from a dump truck.

Any ideas on how to ID the tranny?

Been thinking about taking this shortblock and putting it in my mustang, which is currently a 302. I've been reading up the stickies and other information, and the swap seems pretty straightforward. However, I can't find a lower intake for the 351 that will match up with my current Performer RPM. Any ideas?

Hmm, that would suck. Can't do a carb, it's currently efi.
Did a bit of searching around, and these two are the only two I've found that might work. The first one is a Victor, will that lower match up to a Performer RPM upper? The bolt pattern doesn't look the same. The second one is designed as a truck intake, and it comes with the upper and lower, and it may match up with my current upper. Problem is, I'd like something with a little more potential than 5500 rpm.
