Lifters for 1969 Mustang with 351W
My father has a 1969 mustang mach 1 with a 351W engine. The engine has been bored .030 over, new rotating assembly (standard hyperutetic with small compression increase) aluminum intake, carb, cam, and ported/worked stock heads.
He is having a problem, in that he has several lifters that are not working correctly, and needs to replace them. Can anyone recommend a good brand?
The car is still using a flat tappet cam setup, and the cam is pretty heavy. He cannot find the card atm, but it was supposed to be one of the bigger cams you could buy for a stock head engine back in the 1970s (used the same cam when we did the rebuild). ATM the car will tend to fall off really bad in the upper RPM and start to tick etc because the lifters are not working.

How much does your father want to spend on this?
You could do a full custom setup for it, solid roller, billet cam...
but, does he wanna drop the coin?
OR, you could pick up one of the Comp Cams "cam sets" which run about $500 and comes with everything you need

you can replace the lifters, just remember to use cam lube on the bottom of the lifters before installing and perform the same break-in for the lifters as you would a new cam. fire it up and boost the idle to 2-2500rpm and let it there for 20-30 min. after i do this ill drop the oil and filter and ill cut the filter open and inspect for any metal shavings(if you have any problems itll show up in the filter). i recently changed out a brand new set of comp lifters in my cleveland because i had 1 bad one, i switched over to rhoads lifters and am extremely pleased with the results.

basically just looking for a good brand of lifter to replace the ones currently not working. Not looking to switch from the flat tappet etc at this time.
