Default 393w Transmission

Okay so i decided to take the easy way out and build my .30 over windsor with the edelbrock top end kit that is rated at 400hp and 412fpt
I am also buying a 3.85 crank and some 302 pistons to make a 393.( anyone have an estimate of hp? 425?)

My question is, for a 1990 lx notch daily driver what kind of transmission should i go with? i wanna stay with a standard and dont want to spend a fortune.

The car originally is a 5spd 4cyl car.

well the edelbrock top end kit is overrated sorry to say, with a good tune you might see 400-425hp with the stroker. i used eddy heads before and wasent impressed by any means, wayy better heads out there for the money. as mentioned above the g- force is your best bet, you can send em your t-5 and theyll redo it for you, im currently saving my pennies for this conversion, im running a stock 4cyl t-5 behind my 400 hp cleveland its hangin in there but i know its only a matter of time! and itll handle anything you can throw at it to boot.

i have the the edelbrock top end kit on my 357 with just a 650 not tuned and made 400 at the crank. Id say on a 393 youd be making 400 at the wheels. Stay manual, be a man

Just thought the top end kit would be the easiest route to take, don't want the hassle of mixing and matching parts. I do not know enough abut engine building to be able to do it.. Seems like a cheap and easy way to get it done.

Yea if your not sure kits are always a good choice and edelbrock is a highly respected brand, obviously not the best but you get the bang for your bucks.

would the t-5 come stock in my 90 4cyl car? if so, how much would it cost to get it beefed up to handle the 400 horses? Or what do they even replace? stupid question but trying to learn.

I am using the stock T-5 manual from my 83 gt with 80,000 miles and counting running stronger then ever with my stage 2 king cobra and 10.5 flywheel. I had to also purchase a later model bel housing from a 89+ . Otherwise the conversion was quite simple. My motor produces 400+hp at the flywheel with that stock tranny and she holds no problem.
