Yes, your TB can freeze up. In the winter, the TB is only going to get so warm from the engine itself. Any moisture in the air, could condense inside the TB and freeze, making your TB stick.

I'm not sure how strong the electrical motors in our TB's are, and how much freezing would have to happen before this would become a problem.

But that brings me to my question. Sure this mod is great for N/A and charged applications. I imagine you could install a valve of some nature to allow easy on/off for winter months. But what about nitrous applications?

If cold weather could be enough to freeze a TB, than a shot of liquid N2O right onto the blade might cause the same problem, even in the summer.

So, any of my fellow nitrous friends, be careful if you do this mod. A TB stuck open, might cause the TPS switch to stay armed (you may not be able to turn your nitrous off without disconnecting the power).

now that I think about it, since winter is coming, it might be wise to leave the TB heater in for the winter...

question... im assuming we wont have 2 worry about the throttle body over heating like it was put in 2 prevent? lol

and does this help w/ horse power or anything.
no no noooooo
the TB is heated which is soposed to help it not get frozen!!!
untill someone realized that it will freez at about 30 below
it runs about 190 degrees with the coolent running through it
and about 90 degrees with it bypassed

and for the other qutetion umm there is no documented evidence that i helps hp
butt i have noticed that the car never seams to loose that just turned on response
you know when you turn the car on and its not warm and you hit the gass it just feels stronger
then once its at full heat is kinda bogged down
that feeling never comes
I seem to remember this mod being done on the 5.0 liter fuel injected cars in the 80's. Then years later I read that the lines are used to cool it, not heat it. The measurements in the article seem to prove that it works though.

ya these lines were def made to make sure that it does not freeze
ran the hell out of the car after the mod and the TB was touchable
before the mod the TB burns the hell out of you

They don't even have them on the 4.6, so maybe they're not necessary at all.

i did the bypass. I definetly noticed more of a gain up in the 50-90mph range with response, can't really explain it, know it feels better though. Did you guys plug the hose inlets from the throttle body?? i know i'm just leavin em open for now....should i plug em??

I have a post earlier in this thread about that. I would just leave then open. The way i see it, the air inside the coolant box on the TB will heat up and cause convection. The inlets will allow hot air to vent out to the cooler environment and in theory produce better cooling. you may think otherwise but mine are open.
