Default MAC axle back

I'm sure this question has been asked before, but I can't find the thread. I am interested in a MAC axle back and was wondering what gains people have seen from it. From what I understand, the MRT is the best forgains but a little loud. Thanks for any input.

i strongly recommend not buying the mac axelback. I installed it on the chrysler sales rep's 06 v6 mustang. It didnt fit out of the box, and took a lot of banging, and pipe expanding, and then it didnt line up in the cutout, and i had to bend hangers. Real pain in the ***

Although many companies boast of gains with the Axelback exhaust I have not seen any supporting data to back up these claims. Axelbacks primarily offer a better sound and appearence over any substantial gains if any. I think the Mac is a great muffler with outstanding sound, quality and fit. I have personally installed these on more than a few occasions and each time the fit (on the 05+) not only was dead on, they slid on with little effort. Although Mac's have had complaints about a drone at a certain rpm ranges, most either live with it because of the outstanding sound or add a mid pipe (catted or offroad) which most times will eliminate the drone. In the real world if you get any gains from an axelback I would not expect it to be more than 1 or 2 hp. Again, I would only look to appearence and sound as the improvement and not expect any real performance gains.

Good luck

The MAC axle back fit's like a glove, and sounds good. I really wanted an MRT but for 225 I thought it was pretty steep. So I bought the MAC and put it on a week ago. Then I found an incredible deal on the MRT so I bought it. Long story short the fit and finish of my MAC is outstanding, but I wanted more noise. So I have a MAC with 1 weeks worth of use I'll take $100 for it.
