does an intake make the exhaust louder?

RE: does an intake make the exhaust louder?
if anything it might, but I don't think it'll be too noticeable.
When I put my CAI on... it changed the tone of the exhaust to a bit of a deeper, throatier note. I can't say it's really gotten too much louder.

i installed my BBK yesterday and i noticed a deeper tone in my exhaust at WOT. Keep in mind i said deeper, not louder...
its a good sound though. i defiantly like it.

Changing the intake will change the intake noise. I don't think it would affect exhaust to any noticeable degree. Intake noise is a significant consideration in the overall noise output of an engine - every engine company spends probably as much time engineering the right-sounding intake as they do exhaust. My Mustang, snowmobile and outboardallcame withstock airboxes whose sole purpose is to make them quieter, not more efficient.

i guess what i meant was that it makes sense to affect the exhaust tone if you also had a tune. tune alone will probably do more for the exhaust than intake alone. more power generated by the engine from CAI/tune = higher volume of exhaust = slight change in tone (for the better).
